scooter99
Another thing to keep in mind here is that in that bath, you've probably removed any paint or protect-ant for the metal parts of the injectors. What's that mean? Well they could rust. They are in the elements even though protected by the hood. So I'm going to go ahead and make them look new by giving them a little paint job. They got 3 coats of primer. and three coats of enamel. Marvelous!! Add new parts, and she's ready to roll!! Now back to the grueling work!! First I had to remove the bolts and the PCV Valve. I'm going to get a new one to replace it. Also removed the internal shield that goes under the valve. YUCK! Recall how dirty this one was, it was the first one I showed going in for the bath. This was after a week in the tub, and a little wire brush work. Not much at all. Except I should've removed that shield before I put it in the bath. Oh well. CLEAN AS A WHISTLE!! scooter99
Time for the outside. Recall I used the wire wheel on the outside of the other one. This one I decided to take a different approach. Paint remover! 100x's easier. I did hit it with a wheel anyway, to get the stubborn stuff off. But you can see the difference between the two. Worked much harder on the one on the left. Now let's clean up the fuel rail. Got the fuel regulator off. Then I cleaned it up a bit in the parts washer. Now comes the fun part!! Let's prep for paint!! Primer 3 coats. Valve covers. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
scooter99
Ready to be primed as well Also got the fuel rail ready. Plugged all of the holes and tapped the fpr area so as not to have issues with the gasket. Little home made hanger! Out of a hanger! LOL Let's prime! scooter99
You all know I'm not going to leave it primer grey!! HELL NO!! How bout some color!!?? Old Ford Blue folks!! Now that's purrrrrdy!!! Wait what? Do it again? OK!! Let's let that dry. We have more to cover. NEW TIMING COVER!!! Yes it's a little different, but they thought of that. Looks close to the same though huh!! Obviously old on the left new on the right. See the difference? How about now? Yes this little port on the side. But, like i said they thought of that. They gave me a little block off plate and some hardware for it, and even a gasket. Taped off and ready for primer. scooter99
Out with the old water pump, in with the new!! This was one of the main issues with the leaking up front. This and the gasket, and the timing cover. All bad. That's why they're all getting replaced. Taped up ready for primer. Painted the fuel rail blue. And primed the timing cover and water pump. And put some color on the intake! Same as I used on the injectors. Timing cover black. This was that piece I didn't know what it was off the end of the intake. It's black now. Katt
Good to see you're working on it, instead of someone else! For my 302 I just soaked my rockers and pushrods in diesel. Didn't go that far out with a partswasher. Sure ate the oil off them though lol. Would be nice if you could run the 9333PT1 headgaskets. Best ones you can get, IMO that aren't MLS. But if everything's setup right, i'd throw the MLS Cometics on, you can reuse them. Dunno if you looked into them options yet though. Also, for the lower intake. I'd take your intake gaskets, put black RTV sealant on both sides of the water jackets, Then do the front and rear valley seal with RTV Sealant. Don't use the cork gasket or rubber gasket shit they give you, it will leak. I've done it this way plenty of times and no leaks. Throw your intake on and let it squash it down then let it seal for a few hours before starting ( if you do get it all done ) *06 330i - Sundern x12 - saz-3500* *91 Foxbody V1 S-Trim Notch*
scooter99
Water pump is blue. This is the external balancing weight for the crank shaft. Needed cleaning bad!! Nope, that's not new folks, same one. She's just clean! She's ALSO NAKED!! COVER YOUR EYES!!! While that dries, let's turn our attention to something else. Cylinder heads. They were a little rusty. So I addressed them a bit. This one was tough. I was tired, and I ran out of the wheels I needed for this to get in all those little nooks and crannies! After some wire wheel love. scooter99
The areas where the valves seat were pretty grimy so I thought I'd clean those up too. This is the driver side head. You can see the new valves, the ones that aren't marked with a number. And done! God I love a wire wheel and an air grinder! Those little wire are like effing darts when they hit your stomach, but damn they make the job easier. I didn't take a picture, but I did the other one that way as well. It was time to come in, this was Sunday night, and this is about the end of what I've gotten so far. So, some of the parts are painted. Still have the heads to tape off and paint, and then i want to remove the exhaust headers and paint those, plus some other stuff. The block needs some serious cleaning and attention, so that's the next big part of this. Once that's done, I can throw some paint on it as well. I'm hoping that with all this extra work, someone will appreciate it when the for sale sign goes up. Katt, thanks. To be quite honest, this was a huge jump for me. I'm not a mechanic, but I know enough to be dangerous. I just knew I didn't want to pay someone to do it because I needed the budget to be able to replace the parts that needed replacing. So I said the hell with it and jumped in with both feet. As far as the gaskets go, I have no clue what's a good brand or not. I honestly bought a gasket kit when I started this from RockAuto.com (EngineTech with FireSeal Technologies) , and that's what I'm probably going to stick with. Like I said before, if I were going to keep it for sure, I'd have done all kinds of different things to it. I'd have changed the cam, the rockers, rods, and all kinds of stuff and made it a bunch more horsepower. But I honestly didn't want to put that kind of money into it when I'm going to sell it. So that's all I have for now. It's supposed to rain this weekend so I may be halted for that. But we'll see, maybe I can get some stuff done in the shop and keep working. I'll post more when I have more to post. Thanks for tuning in. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
