Wiring Alternator question Dc power xp 270

Recommended Posts

I have a XP 270 DC Power alternator going on a 2005 Chevy Tahoe with one wiring problem I can't seem to solve the alternator fits perfectly on the mount but the connector that DC Power sent me that goes from the alternator to the Tahoe seems to not go anywhere the connector has three wires a blue one thats the sense wire I know that goes on the stud of the alternator but the other two wires are on a clip connector one being yellow the other being green this connector from what I see does not fit anywhere I thought maybe the connector from the Tahoe that went to the stock alternator would be what it goes to seeing as it has two wire also one being brown the other black but that connector is to small anybody ever had this problem? Or have any clue on what I should do here?

Looks to me like the black plug should plug into dc power alt and the grey end is for your factory plug to go into. Looks like your factory plug is different so you'll either have to hard wire it in or call dc and see if they can send a proper plug.

I believe the exact same thing happened to me on my 2005 suburban because it turned out I have the z engine(but I have the Autoride LT....) and it has a different plug than regular tahoes/suburbans and different suspension package, etc.

Edit:

When I had talked to DC Power they said they could send me a regulator to swap out, it was like 60 bucks I believe, but then I decided to just get a dual alt bracket and have my 320 as secondary to my factory and I didn't have to bother with changing the regulator.
