I have been piecing this setup together since last summer and we finally got it done just a few days ago. For a headunit I got her a pioneer avh x2600bt. Mids- my old kicker ks650. Highs- pioneer tweeters, can't remember model number. Sub- sundown sa12, d4 @ 2ohms. Amp- my old sax1200d. And a optima yellow top in the stock location, under the back seat. Sky High wiring and fuse blocks too! I had her do the soldering on those. Built a box to sundown's specs for sub. nice and simple. 2 cubic feet at 35 hz. Wanted to go with a kerfed port. just love the way they look. Glueing the last few pieces together. i got a few more pics that I'm going to find and try to upload.

2Kimp Posted May 28, 2014 Author Report Posted May 28, 2014 finished up, ready to put resin on the inside of the baffle and kerf cut. since it's not my box i had her pick the color. not going to lie i wasn't crazy about this paint in the store. once we opened it up i started to like it more and more. I'm glad she picked this though, looks great. It's called parakeet green.

2Kimp Posted May 28, 2014 Author Report Posted May 28, 2014 first coat on. fits nice. getting ready to glue the top on. We pre painted the inside of the top of the port so we didnt have to risk getting paint on finished part.
2Kimp Posted May 28, 2014 Author Report Posted May 28, 2014 almost forgot about the head unit. couldn't stand her old stock radio that didn't play cds anymore with a tape adapter for ipod.. so primitive lol. I replaced the mids with the kickers a while ago, I don't have any pics of that install on this computer. maybe ill find them later on when im home. I had to make a bracket to put the 6.5" speakers in. basicly just took some mdf, traced the footprint of her original brackets, and routered the edges and painted. nothing special. her original speakers in front doors were 5.25" i think. Mids and highs are off head unit for now. one day well get a 2 ch. amp for the front. there's no speakers in rear doors anymore. all speakers and sub that were in the car were destroyed and the glue came off on the spiders and surrounds lol. completely useless. again, no pics of those right now. back to the build: bewbs! not bad for first time. i had jumped the gun and routered that back piece before assembly. Figured it was easier to just sand the corners to match the curve. I tried to have her do as much as she could, or wanted to do. it is her box so she should have a part in it too. starting the first coat of bed liner. this stuff stunk up the whole house for days. next time i use that im doing it outside.. did 2 full coats on bottom, sides and back. just one on the top.
2Kimp Posted May 28, 2014 Author Report Posted May 28, 2014 showed her how to solder. don't have any pics here of the finished result. came out perfect though. used a bit to much on first attempt. sky high heat shrink covered it up anyways. i got some installed pics at my house. i thought i uploaded more to photobucket than i did. so once I get home I will upload some finished pics. maybe a vid or two if its nice out. system came out great though. sounds really good, better than any system ive had lol. even my dad thought it sounded perfect, and he always gave me shit on how its to much bass and all that. more pics to come soon.
