Kylemay1 Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 I built a box under my seat and as of right now with the box is 1.1 cubes and thats with the sub in. Its in a 99 silverado. All i wanna do is port it with an aero port. Preferably around a 3 inch one but 4 would work to. Just need to know how long i need the port to be before i order one. Going for sq on this one so tuning around 35-40 hertz i guess. Thanks guys for all your help
timc31610 Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 How much available space do you have? I believe the port will have to be external. timc31610 Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 For port calculation -------> http://www.psp-inc.com/tools.html Looks like a flared 3" port at 13.75" would hit 34hz. Kylemay1 Posted June 4, 2014 Author Report Posted June 4, 2014 As far as space for the port internal? I can go about 15 inches deep with it. Inside the box of course. Then the box rises a little to go over the hump in floorboard of back seat
timc31610 Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 If you port internally you will decrease your net airspace considerably. Do you have pics of the box in the truck? Also what power do you plan on using? osiris10012 Posted June 4, 2014 Report Posted June 4, 2014 I am running my e10 in a 1.25 cu ft enclosure tuned to 35 hz. It has 14 sq in of port per cube and sounds great.
Kylemay1 Posted June 4, 2014 Author Report Posted June 4, 2014 Yea i see your point about decreasing internal air space by porting internally but gotta remember being under my seat theirs not much space to work with. And yea i got pics just dont know how to post them lol. And that port calculator told me a 3 inch aero port 13 inches long would tune it to 35 hertz
Triticum Agricolam Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 How much power are you going to be putting to this thing? With a 3" port you might have port noise issues if you put too much power to it. Kylemay1 Posted June 5, 2014 Author Report Posted June 5, 2014 Running it on a rockford prime 1200 at 2 ohms
Triticum Agricolam Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 OK so that amp puts out 800ish watts at 2 ohms. Your 3" port is not going to cut it, at all. You need to go up to a 4", which is going to be significantly longer.
