Weigel21 Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 Yeah, I don't/didn't figure you were going to go and dial the gain to the maximum level or anything in any sort of an attempt to get a fully clipped signal. I'd honestly be tempted to claim that setting the gain by ear with music would end with absolutely nothing ever happening to the sub, in terms of damage due to clipping.

I did that for years, now did it using a dmm, found 40 Hz area got higher output then 20 and 30s or 50 to 70s, plus music even a lot less tried a CD bass competition alleged cd and never gets close to amp higher end power, plus if use make sure CD or disc is used found a thumb drive through USB the 47 or so volts only read high 20s to 30s, by ear just use to turn deck up about 3/4 and turn tell heard distort or sub sound like it was distorted, might be setting more realistic guess bass is safer using meter and turning up 40 hz bump on EQ, but just not sure it is all that - the Meter idea that is. 43-4 volts roughly on Gains using DMM, was more like 23 playing music, 2400 Brz amp.
