walwalka
So after talking with slamminbeats this weekend I'm thinking about doing some caps to replace my rear battery to save some weight and stabilize the voltage. My issue is I have no idea what I need or how to get it done. But I want to learn. I'm going to be running a new sundown SCV-3000D or 3000w rms + 200w rms for my mids and highs. I would like to run solely off caps in the trunk plus the battery under the hood and the H/o alt. Who can shed some knowledge? Bump4life
youd only need 2 banks for that setup. if wiring to 1 ohm or even .5 ohms. 3 banks would be even better but thats considering you wnat next to 0 voltage drop if you want bus bars designed, i designed the cap setup in slammins car, and also the one in my car. and i have passed the info on to a few people on here already. edit: you have a H/O alt. didnt see that. 2 banks will be plenty. all you need are caps, nuts, washers and bus bars suitable for the current you are trying to draw. with caps you can never have enough wiring. make sure you have at least 2 runs from the front back. walwalka
I did too, but after talking with some people. They seem to be really awesome, better for the vehicle, better for the amp, etc. So why not? The fact that the voltage doesn't jump around like it does with batteries is amazing. 2010 Honda Civic LX / Deck: Kenwood DDX371 / Front Highs: Crescendo RTS-1 / Front Mids: Silver Flute 6.5's / 4 channel: DC Audio 90.4 / Sub: Fi 15in SP4v2 / Sub amp: Taramps HD 5000 / Power wire: Knukonceptz OFC 1/0 / Deadener: Audio Technix 60 mil / Batteries: XS Power D5100R / Rear bank: TBD / Alternator: Singer 240a hairpin

I can't remember. the way i designed the layout of the caps, a balancing circuit was not necessary. the caps self balance the way i ahve them hooked up. I play the odds and bet the the tolerance of randomly chosen ones even each other out. you still have to check the balance after install but my design worked as i had planned on both my system and slammins Buyer/Seller Feedback Thread: http://www.stevemead...5015-bump4life/ MB C220 153 Trunk Car Build Log: http://www.stevemead...d/#entry1840136 MB C280 Ipad Dash SQ Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/194484-bump4lifes-new-benz-tony-c-relay-kit-pictures-ce-electric-audison-front-stage-installed/ My SPL Log: http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 BMW M340 xDrive Stock, for now. SlamminBeats
Welcome to the dark side. As you saw I was maintaining voltage well above batt resting on a stock alt with 5k RMS or so. Its a great feeling.
