deh-80prs setting tweet amp gain dd1+

How would I go about using the dd1+ on the highs on my 4 channel since the lowest setting is 1.25k for crossover? As the dd1+ uses a 1khz tone?

Change the head unit to output in standard mode and set with 1khz tone. Then just change to network mode. RCA output voltage should not change. It's how I ran mine but I also had a lot of headroom in didn't need on the amp.

Standard mode headunit distorts at 55 and network with internal amp off it distorts at 61 out of 62. So doing that wont work.

Can always do by ear. Play a 2 or 3khz test tone and start turning up the gain. You will actually hear a very noticeable change in pitch when it starts to clip. Back off and you're good to go.

Be careful playing your tweeter that low if it can't handle it.

What I did on my truck was just switch the rca's for the mids to the tweeter input of the amp and tuned it that way. I didn't have issues, another note my eq is flat.

I would not set tweeters with a DD-1. I always set tweeters by ear on music. If you're really worried you can check your AC voltage with a DMM with a 0dB 5kHz tone after you set them by ear, but tweeter levels will almost always be much lower than you ever expect. Like, close to a quarter of what most people wanting to set with a tone expect.

This is different for every HU. There is a large thread over on deema with plenty of guys that scoped their 80PRS's, some will have distortion at low 50's, some are clean at 62/62. My HU has some weird waveforms on only the tweeter channels at low 50's, mids are good to 61/62, sub channels are good to 59/62. Weird right?

i used the mid range outputs, used a 0db tone and then ended up cutting the output by like 7db on the headunit.

So, this is opposite of what you want to do, speaking in terms of SQ. You always want to be able to set the gain on the amp as low as you possibly can. It's got to do with noisefloor. Will you notice? Almost definitely not, so it's probably not worth resetting everything for you. Just wanted to mention it though.

yes, i agree, but it was the simplest and easiest. Hard to adjust gains just right when amps are in the hatch behind a wall. I do understand about the noisefloor, but its not like i have an sq build, just a sounds good build. lol

Yep, understood. It's all good, at least you got it all figured out!
