Lincoln2413 Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 What size alt should I go with I'm gonna be running a american bass hd 3500 for my sub amp and a small four channel for the coaxs I think the hd puts out around 1500 rms and the four channel I get will prob do less than 400 so around 2000 rms or less is what I'm looking at any help is appreciate

Food for thought: 2000 Watts / 13.6 Volts = ~ 147 Amps. Amps aren't 100% efficient so 'max' pull will be higher (147 @ 80% efficiency = 184 amps). Plus whatever current your vehicle electronics needs. Remember, even playing music with max volume your amps will not be pulling ~184 amps constantly. Maybe a single bass hit will, but the battery helps to put out some power on those peaks.

A good alt in not cheap but you can always do what one guy in here did. Buy a quality power alt and then in two months when I quits working spend the money on a good one anyway. Not trying to sound like an ass just trying to prevent you from wasting money like many on here have done before.
