Will a clamp meter work, and if it can how exactly can I calculate this. Quiet Posted July 5, 2014 Report Posted July 5, 2014 you'll need an ammeter and a camcorder.. Connect your clamp around the pos runl (could do neg i guess but someone here will bitch about it). Aim the camcorder at the meter, make sure you can see them well. Play a few songs, tones, whatever. No real calculation involved if you just want to know the draw, but what's interesting is you'll find that sometimes the loudest tones aren't always drawing the most current from your batt/alt. 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.
TaylorFade Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 Go to AutoZone and ask them to borrow a DC clamp right quick. Have the guy clamp it around your power wire and watch it while you wang out.
