SSadam Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 Long time reader, first time poster here. I've got a soundstream rubicon 2500 on the way. I've picked the american bass xfl series as the sub I want to go with. I'm trying to decide what size to go with. I know at the same power levels, the two 15's should have more potential, but I'm thinking of running the 3 10's at .75 ohms. That should put me at around the 3000 watt range if my thinking is correct. Price wise, the difference is pretty insignificant. What way would yield me more spl? The vehicle is a Trailblazer SS. The box will likely have two slot ports with either setup tuned to 33hz.
fecupe2001 Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 for that cabin i would prefer more cone area, i would go with 2 15s for sure, trust me, you can get LOUD wired at 1 ohm, people this days only care about wiring so damn low now, my suzuki swift was burping close to 150 at 38 hz with 2 15s on a 2K wired at 1 ohm, subs up/port back using 9.4 c/f and 3 6" aeros , right before getting everything out of the car i got another 2K and strapped them at .5 ohms a piece just for fun and burped 152 at 39 hz I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. SSadam Posted July 6, 2014 Author Report Posted July 6, 2014 That thing is nuts! Thanks, two 15's it shall be then. I've yet to find recommended airspace for these subs though.
fecupe2001 Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 you could copy my box if you want, should work with those subs i assume I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. SSadam Posted July 7, 2014 Author Report Posted July 7, 2014 You think it would be ok? I've read these subs will handle more than rated power, but I'm not sure how much more. I'll be pushing 250 over rating per sub, so I don't want to go too big on the box.
boom50cal Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 OP, listen to fecupe he's probably the baddest ass low power SPL competitor on the forum right now. I'd do 9 cubes flat with 3 6 inch aeros, 30hz, because I'm a lover of lows. iirc they like tad bit big boxes similar to AQ/SQ, DD, and Tantric woofers. Bighosf150 and SwordLordBoy1234 have pretty good experience with them, they could give some more insight on the XFL subs. SSadam Posted July 8, 2014 Author Report Posted July 8, 2014 I don't doubt him for a second. I've read some of his threads, he knows his stuff. My question was really because I'll be overpowering a bit. The 9 ft spec, is that including port and sub displacement?
