Ugh my 3500v2

The fuck never heard of calibrating a voltage meter. I even used a hand voltage reader and got aroudn the same results.

Like I said after a hot ass day im reading passed 15 volts.

Here is how it plays out every morning.

Wake up

batteries reading around 13.4 volts. I turn the car on Im around 14.6 volts.

I bump my way to work

I'm now reading 14 volts.

I get out of work 12 hours later

Im reading 15+ volts. ONLY on a hot day.

On a cool day I read what I had when I stopped in the mornning.

Edit: I guess the best way to find out is wait till i get this SCV 4000 and watch it go into protect mode when I turn my car on after a hot day.

You have impedance rise, and THAT is why you're not dropping voltage like you SHOULD be.

Example:

A local friend is running a Crossfire 8K wired at half ohm. He has twin Singer 320A alternators and 7 XS XP3000s for a bank. He rises to just at 2 ohms and that amp is making 5K. This was measured with the SMD AMM-1. So at half ohm, with plenty of alt and battery back, he's making 5K at 2 ohms.

You aren't getting 3500W to your subs on a stock alt with no voltage drop. You're probably rising to 4 ohms and that amp is, rated at what, 750W at 4 ohms?

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

On my stinger meter you have to turn a knob under the plate to match it to the actual voltage. Shit maybe just the stingers have that.

I understand how the battery voltages rise on hot days. It's just that I go to work everyday and I have an xs battery in the trunk that gets very very hot around 110 and my voltage only goes up by .2 or .1. I find it odd that it goes up way past 15v.

I do agree with cleansierra about the impedance rise tho.

How can your batteries be up to 15 volts if your car doesn't charge past 14.6 like you said?

I just don't get how just because it's hot out your batteries suddenly charge past 15 volts when you start your car?

And do the smd volt meters need to be calibrated? I've never owned one.

And that could be the reason why you don't think you are dropping as low as you were with the 3500

Correct me if I'm wrong

Email SMD,I bet you got one of the vm1's with an extra diode. I was giving the choice to send it in or just remove it myself. It took me 2 mins tops to remove it myself.

I got pics of the removal if you want them. I was like you at first only I thought my alt rectifier was going out with the high volts the vm1 was reading.

Man im learning so much lol.

I never knew about impeadence rise. I'm actually watching videos about it.

So what would i have to do to get the full wattage out of my amp?

Is it the way my amp is tuned?

Message me those pics poorfish88,

that could be a very good clue to my confusion on my voltage.

I recently got my alternator checked and it was at 97% so its still good as far as I know.

To lower your box rise you have to redesign your box...

But I think you should also take a look at you voltage meter and make sure it's putting out the same numbers as a dmm.
