ADGomez Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 So I was researching on how I would need to setup my electrical for the 4500+wrms audio system I'm about to put in, and I still have a few questions. Somebody please help!! 1) so I am going to use sky high car audio 2/0 ofc wire but I don't know what fuse holder to use? Here's a picture 2)I know I should get fuse depending on the wire rating but I'm not sure what the rating is for 17-20ft of 2/0 wire is this true? : 3) and if it is 700+ amps , shouldn't I get a 700amp anl fuse? Or what I found was a 750amp fuse : Any and all help is much appreciated!
Jhunt94 Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 For the fuse holders it will just come down to preference. One of those accepts ring terminals which means you will have to crimp lugs onto the wires in order to attach them to the fuse holder. The other one will accept the wire directly into a hole, and then you'll tighten a set screw onto it. I'm not exactly sure where you found that wire rating at, but according to this it's not right. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/1005-wirefuse-guide/ 2007 Ford F-150 Reg. Cab. philrab Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 Running a smaller fuse is fine, as long as its a big enough fuse for your equipment. The danger is running a bigger fuse than the wife's rating. Whole point is to blow the fuse before you melt your wire or blow up a battery. 2015 Toyota Tacoma Build Thread 2007 Mazda 3; 5000K HID's, Kenwood Excelon KDC-X997, Infinity Reference 6.5 comps in front and coaxials in the rear doors, JL 320.4 four channel, Rab Designs built ported enclosure with an SA12, Kenwood monoblock, Redline Leater shift boot/e-brake boot/center console cover, JBR short shifter/shifter bushings/rear motor mount.
