what to use to transition from plastic to wood?

I'm modifying my factory box which is plastic so it'll accommodate a sub with more depth. I'm assuming I need a silicone of some sort, will any silicone work? What I'm doing is basically trying to attach a woofer ring. The factory box has some sort of texture on it and I'm thinking I need something, but I'm not sure what will work best between wood and plastic
