Syphlyn
Thinking of buying a MechMan G series 240A alt for my 2000 F150. I keep seeing all these posts with issues relating to charging voltage and regulators. On my vehicle am I going to run into any of these problems or is it too old to have the "regulators" I keep hearing about? Truck is a 2000 F150 XLT extended cab 4.6L V8. Maybe I'm completely wrong but I just want to make sure before I spend $350 + shipping. Thanks! Syphlyn
What you heard problems about is pcm controlled alts ;-) Not really sure what that is, but will I run into issues like that? Or is that mainly a thing on newer vehicles? martydmb
Its when your computer regulates your alt. So if your car has a external regulator your fine. Even if like mine is controlled by pcm, you still could be fine. Mine is always 14.0-14.4. Toyota seems to have a big issue with the pcm and ho alts. Seeing yours is a 2000 its prib not pcm controlled but could google to find out Quote 05 dodge magnum rt DEH-80PRS Rockford fosgate T600.4 st200 tweeters Sundown Neo Pro 6.5 v2's 2 Saz-3500v2- Toolmaker dual 1/0 inputs 2 Sundown ZV4 12" D1 1/0 Sky High Power wire OFC 3 XS D3100- Toolmaker battery terminals Mechman 320 Amp Alt Smd Voltmeter KnuKoncept 1/0 OFC

At least with the 4.6/5.4 they said not to go bigger then 240A as the F150s of that era have terrible belt wrap. Take a look at other engine bays the belt covers 70%+ of the alt pulley in my truck it grazed over the top of it lol...
