Bought my Zv4 12 rev.1 from SSA 9 months ago. Great C/S and am going to order anything in the future from them. I originally ordered an X12 but after they shipped it out I called them and told them I changed my mind and decided to go with a Zv4 model. What advantages does the capped voltage (SCV line) bring in over the SAZ line? Just curious as I didn't know there were any significant advantages.

I hope I never have to recone my Zv4 12 but if I do whenever I am curious if the new Zv4 REV.2 soft parts are interchangeable with the REV1 motor. Like could I use the rev.2 soft parts to recone my sub. Hmm...

When I was setting the gain on my SAZ-2000D with the DD1 whenever I turned the gain just to the point that the DD1 clipping light illuminated the amp would make a buzzing noise and as soon as I backed off the gain both the light & the buzz went away. The sundown amps have some sort of clipping detection built in with it and it's pretty much on point. This was my SAZ amp, not sure about the newer SVCs as I've never owned one.

Thanks, I really want to go bigger, if I have to I will go with the 2000d I just really wanted to push this thing to its max potential. I've got my Zv4 12 on an SAZ-2000D. Thing get's incredibly loud. Unless you're going for SPL and numbers you probably won't see a huge difference between 2k and 3k besides the extra strain and cost on your electrical.

I have one of the "old" Zv4s (12 inch) I bought last fall and now I see they've got the rev.2 out. I've looked on Sundowns website and various other veders and can't find the answers. I know the surround is different but are there any other changes? I noticed they increased in price the Zv4 12 was $529.99 and now it's $599.99.

If your stock alt is over 100 amps and you do the big three you would probably be fine. If you're dropping a little low upgrade your stock battery to the biggest XS battery possible. If your stock alternator is tiny it might just be better to get a 150a-175a alternator from Mechman or Singer.

The hilarious part about this is that its true lmfao.. I'm apart of that group and earlier today I saw someone say that 2 sa 12s could take 3500 - 4000 watts "all day". Yeah okay pal...

I've got my SAZ-2000D running my Zv4 12 in a 2.75 cubic foot box (net) @ 31hz. Sounds awesome and pounds between 25hz - 40hz but will still play up to 50hz it just not very loud compared to say 30hz.

Are you worried about the zv4 not moving on a lower power then what most people run? My zv4 12 is in a 2.75 cubic foot box tuned to 32hz on my saz 2000d and the thing moves like mad. I'd say even if you run 1500-2000 it'll get plenty loud enough.

I have my zv4 12 on 2k. Does fine and gets loud. I originally wanted the X but went with the Zv4 12.

Once my brakes are fixed I'm doing a 300km round trip down to WA to grab my alt. We'll see how it performs then.

Took some ratchet straps off the bottom of my box. They were sitting on top of the platform I made (they weren't tightened/securing the box, as they're for my snowmobile). I doubt that was the issue, it wasn't a metal on wood rattling noise. Tightened the sub right up and as far as I can tell the noise is gone but I haven't played it long enough to know for sure and I can't go driving around because my truck needs new rear brake shoes and I don't need to ruin anything. Thanks guys you are all very helpful hopefully the noise will be completely gone once I get to drive a little longer. Can't play it in my driveway as it rattles everything in my house pretty bad.

It's nothing like bottoming out. I can hear the sounds when the cone isn't moving anywhere near 3.5-4". I'll tighten everything down and check the spider today and report back. I was playing a song which i played when I first got the sub and it made no noise. Couple days ago - same song, same volume and I got the noise. Like I said I'll pull the sub out, take a look, tighten things down and report back later today probably around 4-5pm est. Thanks I should mention I'm running an SAz-2000d with the gain set properly but I keep my volume pretty low as of now, because I only have my stock alt and battery. I keep my voltage above 13.5, if it goes any lower I turn it down so I'm not putting that much power to it. Waiting for my alternator to get here. I've yet to hear any mechanical noise such as bottoming out.

Here's a better description: It almost sounds like the cone/surround is virbrating. It's very loud and noticeable. Can't enjoy my bass ;(

theyre in there good just not fully tightened as the screw was touching the edge of the surround....

so it's normal and can't hurt anything. It sounds like air moving but it's coming from the cone/surround area and it's pretty noticeable. It's definitely not coming from the port. I know for sure it's not port noise...just bugs me when im trying to play and its just there and pretty loud ruins the whole experience :'( :'( edit: would the surround make noise when moving? I didn't notice it/hear it when I first got the sub and for the first week there wasn't a sound, I would have heard it. Just started two or three days ago. It's gotten worse as of today.

ugh well how is it fixed? My first zv4 never made any noise...

Yeah the sounds appears when it moves a lot but on some songs It can move a ton and it's not there while other songs it's very very apparent.

I should mention when the sound occurs the sub isn't anywhere near it's xmax value ect and there's no clipping or anything like that it happens at lower volumes too.

I have the 8 gauge wiring running through two small holes in the back of the box...I didn't silicon them shut could that be it maybe? Sounds similar to have it play in free air...you know the sound it makes when you turn it louder? Also I didn't tighten the screws down all the way tightly, should I try that? (the mounting screws on the woofer)

Is it normal to hear your sub moving while it's playing? Maybe the best way to describe it would be the noise of the cone moving. When I put my face over the speaker I can hear it coming from the speaker not the port (can also hear it while driving and facing forward). Could it maybe just be the air moving around the speaker? It's in my ext cab truck so could limited air space inside the vehicle cause it? Sub sonic filter is at 27-29hz probably and low pass is at 300hz on the amp (all the way up) and 60hz on the HU. Box is 2.75 cubic feet @ 32hz with 42 sq inches of port. Any ideas? It's really annoying. Edit: You know when you play your sub in free air you get that noise of the speaker moving? It sounds very similar to that...

I'm going to order one from droppinhertzcaraudio. What does it come with? I just want the wiring and not the cigarette plug. I have all the wiring for a meter from from my amp in the back. Does it just come with a remote/pos/neg wire running from the vm1?
