mason05 Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 I am about to do a build in my truck and I just need a bit of info. When building a ported enclosure, is the port volume separate from the box volume. I understand that I have to compensate for basket displacement Just wondering if I build a 2.5 cubic foot box if the port volume is included into that number or is separate from the box volume, i.e box 2.5 cu.ft plus "x" volume of the port. By the way it will be tuned to 32hz for one box and a separate box will be made for the spl lanes.
Joe X Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 The airspace the sub needs as specified by the manufacturer is net (after subtracting all displacements, that is internal box airspace less sub displacement and port displacement). If you want to have it done for you just post vehicle, sub, amp models, max dims for the box, if you want to do it yourself, is not practical to do all the numbers by hand get some box calculator software and read some tutorial on the topic. There's the Torres calculator thread on these site from which you can download the software an learn how to use it.
mason05 Posted August 10, 2014 Author Report Posted August 10, 2014 Where is this Torres calculator thread? And thank you for the info.
