can i turn off my subsonic filter?

Joe can u throw a design my way for 2 13w7s? I have 19 inches height, 38 inches width, and up to 24 inches depth. the only way i can fit it all in my trunk is if the subs and port are up. port back would put it like an inch from my trunk lid. its a jeep liberty. I saw you did a free design for a guy with a sundown sa15. Just wonderin if you could hook me up. thanks

The answer is do not run a ported box without an infrasonic filter. Set it a half octave below your tuning frequency. Yes, getting an amp with an adjustable filter will help you play lower than 30, because as it is now you can't. (well you can, but the level is highly attenuated)

Having the infrasonic filter on also help clean up the sound a bit.

I find that in some music, you get nasty spikes that can go down to 5hz from percussive instruments, vocals, any sort of stupid sound fx...basically music that hasn't been mastered very well. Though you can't actually hear stuff that goes down that low (maybe Kevin's van does) the woofers are still going to try, which can get messy.

At half power or less, mechanical damage to the woofer is less likely, but even still, the sound will not be clean on these lower frequencies due to the lack of control.

Ultimately, it's your choice, but most will agree, it'd be a poor decision to run without the filter.
