How to determine how many amps of an alternator I will need?

U need to figure out how big of system are you going to be running and how many batts ru going to run for a battery bank. Lot of factors come into play.basically need more information on what u r trying to accomplish with your system?

Basic way to calculate is every 1000 watts needs 100 amps of dedicated power...not shared. Most cars use 100 amps or less..Most

that would mean that steve needs 3000 amps for that tahoe...?

Current Setup: 2002 Ford Focus SE (stock electrical)

-Kenwood Excelon KDC-X397

-Infinity Kappa 6x9's in each door

-Rockford Fosgate Prime R1200-1D

-2 12" Rockford Fosgate P3D2

Backups:

-12" Power Acoustik Mofo-122X in 36hz T-Line box

get the biggest alternator that will fit,you might want to add more later.
