Amp Question/how

Hi guys! im kinda new to this whole car audio scene I just want to make sure im doing everything right. Heres my set up

Amp- Soundqubed Q1-1200D

Subs- 2 12" SVC kenwood kfc w3013ps @ 400 rms each

Box- 1.85 cubic feet per side, tuned to 38hz

So i know how to wire my subs to 2 ohms, now how do i set my gain? (510x1@4ohm, 870x1@2ohm,1200x1@1ohm)

Once i have them wired to 2 ohms then can i set my gain on max since they'll be wired at 2 ohms? or 3/4 the way?

Also i will be getting a capacitor soon i just connect that from my batt>cap>amp?

One don't waste ur money on a cap. Get a secondary battery for the back and set ur gains with a Dd-1 or oscilloscope. Do not turn ur gain to 3/4 or max!

I wouldn't get a cap. I would do the big 3 and get a good AGM for up front. And with setting gain, your supposed to match the gain with your HU voltage. So lets say your HU has a 4v pre amp voltave you wouldn't turn your gain to maybe 1/4 if that.. Theres no way to do it perfectly unless you have an oscope or DD1

well my HU has 2 sets of 2v preamp outputs (front, Rear) is there any to get close to setting my gain, i know its not going to be perfect but im not going to buy a dd1 or oscope

I.tuned mine by ear and used the.clip light on my.gain knob that came with my amp and on my Sq2200d I'm at a little bit past half gain. I wish I had a dd1 but didn't at the time but it's on my shopping list and I have a 2.5v pre amp voltage

This is how I did it.

Set volume to 3/4

Play 40 or 50hz tone

Set gain know at half way, this lets you lower or raise your gain depending on the song

Start increasing your gain while watching the clip light and stop once it starts to light up

This is NO way the best way to do it but gives you a start. I would still find somewhere near you with a DD or oscope to help you set it since the gain knob doesnt.actually read where your HU clips so can't get you a very accurate reading

ive read my HU manual front to back no were does it say when it clips..

The head unit manual wont tell you when it clips, you need a tool to be able to tell that.

Look on the tool map here on the forum. Chances are that there is someone that lives near you with the DD-1.
