welcome! there are peeps here on this forum that can definitely give you some advice...im not one of them...yet...still learning TONS myself. if it is your very first build, i'd suggest a sealed box, unless you already have great woodworking skill.

the sub he has needs to be run in a vented enclosure. they arent set up for sealed at all.

Both methods of bracing do work well. 1 thing i will tell you is be liberal with the glue when assembling. Seems as you want to stain the box id also recommend keeping a damp rag handy to clean up any excess as you assemble. Assuming that is an original sxx and not a v2, i honestly think you should rethink the port and box volume too.

that series of sub does like big boxes and a fair amount of port. a properly sized 4" port with a net of 2cuft you will be over 220 feet per second on port velocity. ideally this number should be below 55 feet per second. you could get away with a 7" aeroport that was 40" long in a 2cuft net box @ 34Hz. your port velocity would still be a touch high at that point, but, it wouldn't be much above 55 feet per second. Ports that get above that often times get a lot of port noise.

awesome rich and yes it is a original not the v2 i seen people are puting them in boxes around 2.25-2.5 but i want to save space the max sized box i can fit in my trunk is 26 wide 17 high and 15 deep so 7 inch port 40 inches long i dont see working i still havnt learned about port velocity i have seen people talk about it but still havnt done enough reading when i calculated on 12volt it asked for the 4" aero to be right around 12 inches for a 2 cubic feet box after dispacements ...your saying that will create port noise i was going to buy the duel flared port from parts express its trim to fit

...side note the insperation or look i want to build comes from dave the box guy nice quality boxs
