mrd6 Posted September 3, 2014 Report Posted September 3, 2014 Music or movies? Honestly I would consider going sealed for HT use. My Build Log: http://www.stevemead...-sundown-power/ Team NorthWestSPL
ohmboy Posted September 3, 2014 Author Report Posted September 3, 2014 both i got a projector im going to hook up for my nephews and im going to get drunk an listen to music in the house idk shit about home set ups
bkolfo4 Posted September 3, 2014 Report Posted September 3, 2014 If space is not an issue, it will work great in 15.25 cuft tuned to 17 Hz. Need 70-80 sqin of port if possible. You could go with only 13 cuft net with not much of a change in output. If you decide to seal it up, 7.5 cuft gives you a Q of .707. Ported box models up with 7 more dB of output at 20 Hz. Both setups should play down to ~15 Hz without running out of excursion on 1100 watts. Current system: 1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s Previous systems: 2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz. 1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.
Triticum Agricolam Posted September 3, 2014 Report Posted September 3, 2014 That sub should work well in a "MartySub" enclosure, its a fairly popular and easy to build home theater sub design. Here is the info on it: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-diy-speakers-subs/1489541-large-ported-dayton-ho18-s.html#post23711347 "Nothing prevents people from knowing the truth more than the belief they already know it.""Making bass is easy, making music is the hard part."Builds:
ohmboy Posted September 3, 2014 Author Report Posted September 3, 2014 ima do some more reading thanks
ohmboy Posted September 5, 2014 Author Report Posted September 5, 2014 cant decide on sealed or ported what would be best for a bedroom
bkolfo4 Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 Ported will have lower frequency response and be louder at the expense of a very large box. Some will argue that sealed has better SQ, but a correctly designed ported box does just fine. Current system: 1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s Previous systems: 2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz. 1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.
CleanSierra Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 I see the Butterworth in BKolfo's response. I think that's the direction I'd go. Q of .707 is pretty magical Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 Isn't 1100 Watts pretty crazy pretty for a HT setup? That seems like an awful lot of power. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
