Ryan Clark Posted September 3, 2014 Report Posted September 3, 2014 I have a 07 g6 gt sedan running 1 dd 3515 had a huge box setup in the back seat. Now I need a new box for the trunk. I tried the dd compact 15 inch box, won't fit. Should I make a box that is firing up and port out the side? Height is my issue with the trunk. 16 in is the tallest I can go. Please give me any feed back you guys can give.
Ritch40 Posted September 3, 2014 Report Posted September 3, 2014 seems to me that many running trunked vehicles often times will fire both port and sub to the back of the vehicle.
Cj Kumz Posted September 3, 2014 Report Posted September 3, 2014 What are the max dimensions you have to work with?? Sub back port back would be the best imo. Vw Polo Pioneer Deh-6050UB Sundown Saz-3500d DD Audio 9500 15'' 5.5 cubic feet box with 10 inch port @ 38hz I live to hear the Bass drop!!!
Ryan Clark Posted September 3, 2014 Author Report Posted September 3, 2014 The max Is 32L x 19w x16 1/2h that's I could go wider with the box bUT getting it into the trunk is the real issue.
philrab Posted September 3, 2014 Report Posted September 3, 2014 In a trunk, I think your best options are either forward firing and seal it off, or rear fire as advised and leave enough room around the box for the sound to reflect back towards the cabin. If the box is too big, it'll just rattle the Hell out of the trunk and muffle the output getting into the cabin. Question is, which is your preference. And do you have the ability to build the enclosure inside the trunk? 2015 Toyota Tacoma Build Thread 2007 Mazda 3; 5000K HID's, Kenwood Excelon KDC-X997, Infinity Reference 6.5 comps in front and coaxials in the rear doors, JL 320.4 four channel, Rab Designs built ported enclosure with an SA12, Kenwood monoblock, Redline Leater shift boot/e-brake boot/center console cover, JBR short shifter/shifter bushings/rear motor mount. SlamminBeats Posted September 3, 2014 Report Posted September 3, 2014 options assuming space is your issue 1) build box in trunk 2) recone sub to a 12 3) slide in a box this isnt optimal in a trunk car i wouldnt do any thing but sub forward and port forward sealed off or close to it. But thats just me and my experience. Im yet to see a loud trunk car thats done a different way.
Ryan Clark Posted September 4, 2014 Author Report Posted September 4, 2014 How difficult is it to re cone a sub?
