300spartan Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 so i have a orion h2 15.4 sub , its in a prefab box as of right now, but the box blew out from the previous owner so i just screwed everything back together and resealed it and it sucks... anybody know of a good size box , cu ft? im putting it in a chrysler 300 thanks in advance!

300spartan Posted September 7, 2014 Author Report Posted September 7, 2014 Thank you for the quick response, I mostly listen to rap music, and ill have to measure it out tomorrow. i'm very clueless to how to build a box. I've looked thru many sites, calculators, and many formulas but don't seem to grasp the concept. Is there any easy way to determine the cubic ft with port and displacement? I looked up the specs of that sub but end up short. I need help.. Thanks again
Phaeton Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 i would tune to 30hz, as for cubic feet, im not sure how to explain it. ported boxes: 10's like 1-2.5 cf, 12's like 1.5-3 15's like 3-6 and 18's like 5-8. All of that is roughly estimated. it depends what driver you have and what you want. As for building it, use mdf because its cheap and if you mess up, its not a big deal. some people like nails and glue and others like screws and glue, that part is your preference. screwing mdf requires pre drilling and that eats a lot of time. mdf also likes to crack on you with screws. but whatever you use, use glue and seal your box properly. use silicon and NOT caulking! caulking shrinks over time. you can also fibreglass your corners to seal and add strength to your box. When you build large boxes, you want to brace. how you brace is also up to you. metal pipes, doweling, ready rop or a simple 2x4. Joe X Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 So here is a suggestion for the Orion H2 15 you have, be aware that dimensions are suggested need to check if they work in your particular vehicle, power: to sub rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, minimum port clearance 4 1/2", figure is just an assembly guide:NOTE: If building outside you need to build a cardboard dummy box to test fit in it's way inside.
