krazz619 Posted September 13, 2014 Report Posted September 13, 2014 Hey guys, I just wanted an opinion before I make anything happen. First off, I drive a little 2001 Corolla (pretty sure it has a 80 amp Alternator) Basically I got my Alpine CDA-105 deck, with cheap pioneer fronts and stock rears (no amp) I wanna get a P3-1X12 (already in the RF Box) with a Hifonics Brutus X-14 Series X1100.1D (Using 4 Gauge Power+Ground) I'm gonna need a better battery cause I got a cheap one currently, was thinking of getting a Shuriken SK-BT35 Would I need the Terminal Post Kit or no? Would this work out for the time being before I upgrade my system or car lol? Would I need a Big 3 or no? And last thing, if anyone has better options than please feel free to say it. (Reason for RF sub, I've had a P2, and I love my friend's T2. I just like the loudness and how it hits with it being clean enough for my liking) Thanks ahead of time 2015 Scion tC DieHard AGM Battery, Stock Alternator, with Big 3 Alpine CDA-105, Hertz Energy 6.5" 3 Way Components, Skar TX65 Coaxials Rockford Fosgate T2D215 Skar RP-1500.1D and RP-150.4AB

Second, i would find that sub without the box, usually pre made boxes are garbage. i would recommend getting a second bat, i never heard anything about shuriken being good or bad, but i can recommend xs power bats. and if you know how to put lugs on a wire, you dont need a terminal kit. and people are going to bash on the hifornics amp. im not sayng hifonics is good or bad, but they arent what they used to be. 1997 subaru legacy outback Four 15's in a almost wall Rockford Fosgate t2500-1bdcp Rockford Fosgate T400-4 on tweets Rockford Fosgate T400-4 on highs Rockford Fosgate T400-2 on midrange Rockford Fosgate T400-2 on midbass Optima Yellow top batteries 270A Singer alt (working on a bracket for a second) Lots of Second Skin
krazz619 Posted September 13, 2014 Author Report Posted September 13, 2014 Well if I was gonna make a custom box then I would get the P3 15" Any other recommendations instead of the Hifonics then? They just seemed to be popular at a decent price. And I'll definitelly consider the Big 3 then. For the battery, I don't think I will really need 2 batteries. Shuriken didn't seem like a terrible idea. I was considing XS Power but wasn't too sure if they were good for both Audio and as a Starting battery. 2015 Scion tC DieHard AGM Battery, Stock Alternator, with Big 3 Alpine CDA-105, Hertz Energy 6.5" 3 Way Components, Skar TX65 Coaxials Rockford Fosgate T2D215 Skar RP-1500.1D and RP-150.4AB
Phaeton Posted September 13, 2014 Report Posted September 13, 2014 soundcubed, rockford fosgate. I know its hard to find decent equipment for the price your going for but if anything, soundcubed is a very good company. and xs bats are great for starting, my buddie has one for his diesel and it is great. just finds something within your budget. any bat will help.
RainStryke Posted September 13, 2014 Report Posted September 13, 2014 I have a 2003 Corolla, just did a bunch of upgrades and still uprading. Battery isn't very important compared to other upgrades you could do at the moment. Number 1 thing to know about the sub is the box, the box is a very large part of how good that subwoofer is going to sound. Those boxes that come along with the subwoofer are usually for asthetics more than performance. You should make a box or buy one of the boxes tuned to 34Hz off eBay like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CUSTOM-SLOT-PORTED-MDF-ENCLOSURE-BOX-for-12-CAR-SUBWOOFER-2-0-ft-3-TUNED-32Hz-/360485917401?pt=US_Speaker_Sub_Enclosures&hash=item53eea292d9&vxp=mtr For the subwoofer, i'd actually recommend going with a SoundQubed HDS300 series sub. http://www.soundqubed.com/HDS300_c_34.html I have two of the HDS312's, currently only running one. It is a very loud subwoofer and the price is awesome. As for the terminal upgrades, I would only do that if you do the big 3. I went with NVX 0/1 gauge terminal's off sonicelectronix. I went from 13.6V to 13.8V, it wasn't much, but I gained a little bit more power out of my amplifiers. Mine has an 80amp Denso alternator, I couldn't find anyone to make me a high output alternator with a good warranty behind it and I have heard nothing but bad things about eBay alternators... I finally found Singer Alternators, which made me a 160A alternator that is a direct fit. I'll be getting it within a week... Took 3 weeks for him to build it and everything. The cost for me was $409. But it might be different for your year and I don't know if prices changed, cause I got my original quote from May 2014 and he honored the quote when I got the money together last month.

poorfish88 Posted September 13, 2014 Report Posted September 13, 2014 Nothing wrong with a p3 sub. Rf makes great stuff. There may be other subs that are cheaper , and perform the same or better. But RF is a good choice.
krazz619 Posted September 13, 2014 Author Report Posted September 13, 2014 Budget isn't that much of an issue, I just figured since I loved my old P2 so much, I figured a newer P3 would be perfect. And my only real answer for your question is, my budget is powering that Sub. I already have the wires, so just Sub, Box, Amp, Battery. If the Big 3 doesn't help that much for the Corolla then maybe I won't get one, unless it's needed. As for the HDS3's I don't really think I can handle that much power RMS without 2 batteries, Big 3, and bigger Alternator. I'm mainly looking for just a bigger battery and maybe Big 3. So I figured around 550-750 watts. I don't know, just my thought process. Edit: I see the HDS2's, if those are good, I'll consider those. Just a matter of 12" or 15". And I like the Ebay Box idea, I wasn't exactly sure how I would want mine created. RainStryke Posted September 13, 2014 Report Posted September 13, 2014 Yeah you can, mine is able to handle my Hifonics Brutus Elite 1700.1 and a Jensen 760.4. You are not pushing as much as mine and my stock alternator handles it... The lights just dim a little too much for my liking when i'm at 80% volume. I'm upgrading my alternator to handle a second HDS312 and to keep my lights from dimming.
