TLine for Fi 18

Subwoofer Stokes

Recommended Posts

^Very efficient enclosure style. Ive only built them for smaller drivers but they always impressed me. Had a pair of t-line towers I built for my girlfriends apartment a few years back with a single $25, 6.5" dayton mid in each tuned @ 35. Those things would fill and shake the entire apartment all the way down to 25hz on ~35 watts each. It was nutty for what it was.

Thats all ive been seeing. People putting small speakers and cheaper sub in them and make them slam. So Im like, lets build a tline for the 18 lol

Well the Fs is 32 Hz so if you tune to resonant frequency you get an 8.5 ft line. Here's the trick, it's not just the fact that it's a line that is 8.5ft long, but the port width that will get you. To give the vent opening your cone area(which I believe is recommended for design style), you'd need a port that is a constant 17X15" the entire length of that 8.5 ft. That's a monster box man.

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

What is the benefit of a T-Line over other box designs? More output with less power?

The function of both a T-Line and a ported box is to delay the sound wave coming off the back of the cone so that it will work in tandem with whats coming off the front. How they do this is completely different, but the result is similar. When comparing a T-Line to a ported box of similar volume the efficiency is about the same, but since T-lines usually end up being much larger boxes that's where their perceived extra efficiency comes from.

The diameter of the cone inside the surround is 13.5 and the outside is 17

I already have a "blueprint" of how i want to build it. I just dont know what size to make the line. Is there a way i can post a pic of the drawing i made?

So i should make my line 17"x15"?

Not sure where those dimensions came from. Typically you make the line so it has the same amount of area as your cone, so in this case about 187.5 sq in. If you make it 17" wide it will need to be about 11" deep.
