AstoSoup
And here is final product. REALLY wish it looked as shiny in the pics as it does in person! I know it's the lighting in the basement/workshop, so will have some good ones. I think it came out pretty well, seeing that in 10 years of building boxes, this is my first run at birch or poly lol Head Unit - Clarion VX709 7" DVD Touchscreen Mid/Highs - Front Doors - RF Prime 6.5" component mids. AstoSoup
AND! I got a nice 3k amp to power them Audiopipe GD6001 (older school), 18v stable, clamped 3150@1ohm, 14.4v. Have seen vids of it doing near 5k @.5ohm, 18v. I will be running at .5ohm, 14.4 so will keep gains down. As you can tell by the guts and Zenon board, it's a pretty beasty amp, from back when AP were still good amps lol Head Unit - Clarion VX709 7" DVD Touchscreen Mid/Highs - Front Doors - RF Prime 6.5" component mids. AstoSoup
So now that the box is built, I have both subs and a good amp, I can go ahead and install it. Gonna have to go low power for now, as I have only a 130a alt., 50Ah of batts and will have the 3k sub amp and two, 640RMS component amps. Some group 31 AGM's are my very next step, then a Singer 270 at tax time Will post pics once shes installed! AstoSoup
So got the new amp all in and working. Wasn't able to mount it with the plexi/guts side up due to the way the wires are ran and didn't feel like drilling ALL new holes in the 0 degree weather.... Still looks good though, I have another MB Quart that will run the 8"s so will be building a rack for all 3 amps and the new, bigger AGM. This should suffice for now though! Battery is temporary, VERY temporary lol. Already have a new 100Ah AGM up front, going to order the matching one to replace the Kinitek very soon Still gotta install the bass knob for the new amp, wire is totally different from the HF. Also have to get the other two set screws from the guy for the speaker terminals.... Otherwise, ready for the box and subs! STOKED! AstoSoup
Size comparison between the AP and the Hifonics lol... This is what caused all the problems when installing it, wires were ran for a smaller amp. Reason why this particular AP amp is good. It's old and made in the USA Have had at least 10 people want to buy this amp since I got it, didn't really know what I had until people started begging me for it lol Head Unit - Clarion VX709 7" DVD Touchscreen Mid/Highs - Front Doors - RF Prime 6.5" component mids. AstoSoup
Also, finally got help carrying the gigantic box to the vehicle today.... Fit very nicely and looks good, no pics though because my 4 year old is sick so I can't really go back out and do anything more tonight :/ Do have both subs all wired and ready to go in though Been a long, drawn out process but I am finally within a half hours work of hearing these bad boys! Don't ask me why I ALWAYS color code the wires on each sub lol, little OCD thing I have must be... Have rolls of different colors though so I figured may as well keep with tradition! 8ga. mrdavebasshead75
Everything looks awesome man!!!! Keep up the good work! I have a build log as well but being an over the road truck driver, I'm only limited to doing things when I get home and I'm only home for a few days! So I try to cram family time with the wife and kids AND mess around with the build all at once lmbo! It's a slowwww build but it's coming along!!! Your box is awesome! I think I'm going to try birch as well! Only used MDF in my builds! I'm tuned in bro!! http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/141026-2001-bravada-build-2-15supdated/?fromsearch=1 ----old build!! http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/194247-2005-chrysler-300c-buildslowwwww-lol/ -----new build!! AstoSoup
Thanks man, and I hear ya with the work and family thing lol.... I work local, but 40 hrs a week plus a 4 year old and a fiance, so my build is also slower than I would like. This was my first time using birch and I must say, I will NEVER use MDF again! Stronger, lighter, easier to work with, and can be kept wood grain I will have to check yours out, is it the link in your sig?
