Different port designs....are they the same tune

Recommended Posts

Ok im know with the "L" port design my numbers are correct and it is tuned perfectly, but i have 2 other port designs that im considering. I really want a port in the middle of the box ( for looks, and looks like it may be stronger)....I understand that removing the internal bracing will have a minor affect, but I need to know if the ports will come out to the same tuning(all I did was place the port in the middle and split the difference for the "T".....the "L" was 7.5", and each side if the "T" is 3.75"...Thanks for your help

48x16x16, Tuned to ~35hz and about 4.70ft^3...going to fire up and port back in a 03 yukon

One thing I see wrong with the t shaped port you have is that you have to width constant the whole way. Say you have 4 in port going into each chamber you would want where they join together to exit the box to become 8in wide

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

Not understanding this

7 - Port length uses the box wall or baffle(s) as part of the port length. So a port that is 10" long with one baffle using .75"
wood will only need to be 9.25" long since the box wall or baffle(s) will account for the other .75". If using two baffles,
then it would be 8.5" long as the baffle will account for 1.5" of port length and so on.
