primalwhite Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 The amp in question is a cozmik audio monoblock qca2000d, it claims 2000 watts at 1 ohm and 1000 watts x2 at 2 ohms though it is non cea compliant so i'm sure it puts out significantly less. my question is, if i turn the input way down with no bass boost do you think an e12 wired to 1 ohm could hande the amp?
Motorboat KER Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 Wire the E12 to 4 ohms. Plus I doubt that sub does rated. Barely has fusing.
primalwhite Posted November 13, 2014 Author Report Posted November 13, 2014 the amp runs at 2 ohms, it will work with the woofer wired to 4?
Joe X Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 Quantum audio that is, they are not RMS rated either, I'd say it will do around 650 RMS @ 1 ohm. You will still have to be careful since the sub a V1. Always use subsonic filter with ported boxes at least.
primalwhite Posted November 13, 2014 Author Report Posted November 13, 2014 oops yeah my mistake quantum audio cozmik series, and thanks for the input. I've been looking into building a box, it'll be my first, i'm trying to keep as much of my prius trunk space as possible, i know most people aim for ported around 2 cubes but i would like to try to build a ported box around 1.5 cubes tuned around 32-35 hz, any idea if that would be feasible? or any help with a sketch up for a smaller sized enclosure?
Joe X Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 So here is a suggestion see if the size is suitable, if not let me know, if I remember right last time you had a honda fit, this will be firing everything back, power: 500W RMS, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, minimum port clearance 2 1/4", figure is just an assembly guide:

The box is pretty much perfect, it should still allow me to access the area where i have my amps still. Thank you so much for the sketch up.
Joe X Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 You're welcome, you can use the amp at 2 ohm, you just have to make sure you set your gains correctly and use the subsonic filter, also check your electrical is in good shape, I would probably do a big 3 as it's very inexpensive. SA-12s could take 1K easily but the earlier V1 E series, I would be careful with it.
