Genesis730 Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 I'm looking to build a new setup and going bigger! My new setup is an Incriminator Audio Flatlyne 15" DVC 2Ohm wired @ 4 Ohm load and powered by a Rockford Fosgate P1000X2 bridged @ 4 Ohms. I was thinking of building a slot ported box but am open to ideas. The problem I'm running into is not really finding a lot of other input for this subwoofer (I like hearing what has worked for other people as a general guide) and also what software to use to get the most accurate information and box specs. I've gone between several tools by reading what others have recommended to find box size for different types of boxes and each site gives me very different results. Anything from 4ft3 to 9ft3 for a box. My trunk limitation is around 4ft3 to 5ft3 and I would really just like some ideas or input on where to go and what to build. If anyone can help or point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

rockFord_Expedition Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 Just build one to manufacturer specs. Should be good to go. I've never run IA Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire
Genesis730 Posted November 14, 2014 Author Report Posted November 14, 2014 Well that's the thing. I've used manufacturer specs and plugged them into several reputable box calculators only to get a wide variety of box sizes and even mixed answers on whether the subwoofer should be in a ported or sealed box. I can post all the specs, although it's a quick google search. I just don't know what box size to believe, all based on the same specs.
Aj11 Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 is the forte a sedan? if so make sure you can load threw the trunk! most 15s don't like to fit in a cars trunk! jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
islandpride684 Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 Here is the info based off of the IA forum... Sealed 1.4 cubes - 2.0 cubes Ported 2.5 cubes - 3.5 cubes, 30 - 45 Inches of Port, 28-35 Hz Build Log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186921-blk9te-07-yukon-slo-mo-build/page-3?hl=%2Bblk9te#entry2881410
Genesis730 Posted November 14, 2014 Author Report Posted November 14, 2014 Aj11, yes it's a sedan. Decent trunk size I think, if I can't fit a 15" I'll go down to 12", but that depends on what size is needed Thanks islandpride684, I had no idea there was a forum for IA, I'm now going though that and have gotten all the information I need! Thanks!
Genesis730 Posted November 15, 2014 Author Report Posted November 15, 2014 Actually after reading over the forums this is the information from the post: Flatlyne Series 12" DVC2 & DVC4 ohm closed 28.3 - 39.6 liter ported 42.5 - 56.6 liter 15" DVC2 & DVC4 ohm closed 42.5 - 56.6 liter ported 85 liter which translates to 12" sealed = 1 ft3 - 1.4 ft3 ported = 1.5 ft3 - 2 ft3 15" sealed = 1.5 ft3 - 2 ft3 ported = 3ft 3 Does that even sound accurate to anybody?? To me those figures sound WAY too small and are smaller than even my smallest results from subwoofer enclosure calculators, however these are "Manufacturer recommendations" as per the forum.
