Amp clipping help?

Recommended Posts

So I have a problem with my amp. It is a car amp wired in with a PC power supply at 13V (yes ghetto but works). I had it mounted on my desk for a while and it kept on going into protect mode. Can vibration cause an amp to go into protect mode? I really like where is was mounted and would like to re-mount it. If it does I will not be able too.

More info about the power supply?

Vibration to an extreme degree may cause protect if something gets wiggled lose, but i have never heard of it. How was it mounted and how much vibration was going on?

I'm guessing low voltage. PC power supplies are 12v not 13v. Post what the 12v power rail shows for amperage on the label and post what amp you are using.
