sbg
I have a 2001 focus se 2.0 split port. I have been having random ticking and was told it was lifters. My brother in law took a look inside and told me #2 and #8 were bad. Well he hasn't had time to help me with it so I was like F it. And went at it my self. Got 2 new lifters, think they called them hydraulic lifter. So I take off rockers and put the new lifters in. But when I go to tighten the rockers back down they are not compressing the valve springs. And getting tight. So I take the rockers back off and pull the lifters back out. And now the plunger on the lifters are vary soft. So I put the old lifters back in and check the other 6 and all of them Are firm like cant push the pluger down and rockers are tight. So I just put the cover back on and called it a day. Because i don't know what I'm doing 100%. My question is should the lifters be able to be pushed in?(plunger) how is the true way to tell that one is bad?
