Dual Voice Coil Power Handling Question?

Recommended Posts

I got a kicker L7 15 D4. The specs say it can do 1000 watts rms and 2k max. My first question is this per coil or both  . My thinking is per coil. Right now the sub is on a ZX1500.1. So each coil is getting around 750 rms. Now i was wondering if I get a D2 could I hook up a ZX1500 to each coil? (i would use a maxlink) Would these speaker be able to handle that much power. I can't afford a solo x and don't want to change brands and I really don't have room to add a second sub unless I remove the back seat.

no the rating is for both coils as a whole

so technically 500 rms per coil

its for the whole sub, not each coil.

rms=1000watts. it might take a little more, but it might not be good for it. I wouldn't do it.

You may want to change brands. You pay retail for one of those l7's or no?

Cerwin vega stroker

hifonics olympus

orion

are decently priced...

I had a buddy that did a 150 in a van with a single l7 with 1500 watts, so dont say they wont get loud.

They can handle more then 1000 but its not recommended. The most i would put to it is 1500.

Car-96 blazer 4 door

Amp- Us-Amps M2D2

Front stage- Infinity Reference Comps 6.5

Subs- Undecided open to all offers and opinions

You had to have it all

Have you had enough
