Setting amp gains by ear can get you in trouble and or leave you with a severely underperforming system. ] I read that on here ALL THE TIME, but im just learning. I've read the pinned tutorial about how to properly set gains and eq and tbh I under less than half of what I read. I have no clue what a "12db slope" or any other of that stuff means A "12db slope" refers to crossover networks. You understand crossovers yes? Think of a slope in a crossover just like a slope on a ski hill. If you roll something down a hill with a really steep slope, it rolls down at a fast rate. For now, just think of the number as the steepness of the slope. Look up the SMD tools map and find someone near you with a DD-1, or buy one yourself. Or a "how to set EQ's for dummys" type of topic? Like I dont understand the difference between a 12db slope or a 8db slop. I hear the difference when I mess with it on my eq settings thats about it. I dont understand exactly whats going on. Or exactly what frequency they should be set at. When Ive take ny truck to a shop they dont use tools either, they do it all by ear. I understand hpf and lpf and thats about it. But if someone were to ask me where to set the mid bass frequency and the highs or tweets should be set at I wouldn't be able to explain it to them. And no I dont have access to a DD-1. but I was thinking of buying myself one for Christmas
