rfbasshead Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 Ok so first, I just bought a mechman 240 amp HO alternator for my 2000 tacoma. I'm running a t1000.1 and t400.4. And I have 1 duralast agm battery up front. So my first question is Is there such a thing as to much charging power? I don't really crank my system up very often but when I do my voltage drops below 12 volts pretty fast especially at night with the headlights and heater on as well. So when I install my new alternator am I going to overcharge my 1 battery and cause damage to it or other parts of my electrical system? And my second question is Do RCA's really matter or make a difference? Is it really worth spending 100+ bucks on RCA's or do the $50 dollar ones do the job just as well? Will I be able to hear the difference? Or is it all personal prefercance and looks? I'm farly new to the car audio scene and would really appreciate your guys input on this. Thank you

The gain its self is a little more than half way up and the the "punch eq" is all the way down. And If I remeber correctly I think the frequency is at 80? i have the nex5000 and I use speaker level setting to turn the bass up and down. It goes down to -24 and idk how high it goes but the highest I turn it up to is 0. What was the difference between the 2 pairs?

rockFord_Expedition Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 The voltage regulator or PCM will control your alt so no need to worry there. Setting amp gains by ear can get you in trouble and or leave you with a severely underperforming system. Rca's are not all created equal. Some have much better noise cancellation and resistance than others. You don't need the most expensive ones to get the job done. Thank you To your first question, no you will not. They only way to overcharge is to actually charge at a higher voltage than 14.4v-/+. To your second question. No there is no audible difference, just make sure when you get RCA's they have shielding to help with noise, that is what you need to worry about the most. I've read the pinned tutorial about how to properly set gains and eq and tbh I under less than half of what I read. I have no clue what a "12db slope" or any other of that stuff means
