I 1st got bit by the bass bug back in the early 90's, my neighbor had this ridiculous Soundstream set-up in a Monte Carlo Super Sport & he'd let me sit in it all the time & when I finally got my 1st hoopty he gave me a pair of MTX 10's & a Sherwood 240 amp & I swore I was the shit, bassin' in a '89 Dodge Omni. I fell off the car audio map once college hit & got back into it a couple of years ago...ehh, but that's beside the point of this post. I feel time has come where I would like to do the same. I wanna help out that 1 kid that works part time after school for min wage, mows the lawn for a few extra bucks ect, saving every nickel just so he could buy that crappy Boss amp & subs, knowing it isn't the best gear but that's all he can afford...with that being said, I figure I'd unload some of the stuff in the boneyard that'll never see the light of day & give away a pair of NVX NSW 12's & Soundstream DTR1.2200D, I know it isn't the score of the century but ehh, 1 man's trash is the next man's treasure. The subs hardly have a weeks worth of playing time...the amp is cosmetically beat up but still pumps it out just as good as the day I got her...I just don't know how to go about making sure it goes to that 1 kid who really deserves it & not some douchebag w/ a 4th order & Level 5's that's gonna take it & put it on eBay or Craigslist to flip a few bucks for himself. Maybe you guys can help me come up w/ some ideas on how to go about this.

I've been trying to do something similar for.my brother in law. he's 20 has a full time job and supports his girlfriend and his mom. he's also i volunteer firefighter. he has a silverado that is his pride and joy.

so many months ago i helped him install a very modest system. to us its laughable but it was everything he could afford. a few days after the system was up and running he had a friend and some kid he didn't really know in the back seat. 20mins into the demo the bass stopped. the next day he came to me to find out why. it looked like the kid shoved a pen in between the + and - on the amp to arc it out. i think it was a pen because there was looked like ink on the amp around the burnt inputs.

anyway its been months since he's had bass because of What i believe is "sabotage"

seeing threads like this, and the Christmas raffle really makes me happy.

theres allot of kids out there who deserve more then what they get.

also if i were you I'd put that on cl for trade.

the first kid who wants to trade you for home equipment they have In There trunk prolly deserves it.

i always get kids with a bookshelf speaker in there trunk.

That's an awesome gesture. The internet makes doing something like that difficult though because its so hard to weed out the scammers, some are really good. I think the idea mentioned above about going to a show would be a good idea. Meeting someone in person makes it a little easier to tell if they are really in need or not.

i wish i didn't go without a paycheck for almost 3fstraight months, i would love to do something like this for the holiday season. I've sold all my spare/ experimental gear to help pay bills.

but going to a show is a great idea. see the kid who wants a demo from every ride, the kid either without a system or missmatched subs.

as said over the internet is kinda hard.

you don't have a local kid who loves getting demos from you? the hang around kid?

if you can give it to local kid you can teach him how to install it, and how to tune it. wish i had someone who really new there stuff to teach me.

I think herokight has been bass-less for years but I could be wrong

I know he didnt have a car for a while but he got a jeep now I think, I havent seen anything about subwoofers
