Fresh engine in the Avalanche.

Recommended Posts

Rather than starting another thread:

What do you guys think about the break in on my engine? I was told not to drive at constant speed for long amounts of time and that I shouldn't baby it. The engine need to have the throttle open with a load on it to increase the combustion gasses which help the rings to "seat" or whatever you want to call it. My mechanic said do some city driving and slow down, then re-accelerate when on the highways occasionally for a the first few hundred kilometers.

Thoughts?

Great, runs like a brand new truck. Fuel efficiency is much better than the old one, avergage is 13L/100km....uuu....18 mpg? Pretty good for an older v8 lugging around a 3400kg fatty.

Yeesh your mechanic keeps a dirty friggin shop. While I surely don't expect anything close to squeaky clean, I'd go nuts keeping my workbench/tools like that. Just finished working or not, that's a disaster.

Yeah, I know but he does very good work. I'm the complete opposite (same as you) I prefer a work bench that is cleaner and more organized than the kitchen table.
