thxsubwoofers
Anyone has this ipod system, its the newer model not the ik500. I been wondering since the first generation one has a passive radiator, does this system also use a passive radiator as well? Cause on the website it says a 6" subwoofer. http://www.kicker.com/40IK5 The one with the passive radiator
islandpride684
Nope...a passive radiator design uses a main driver and a drone cone, which means it does not have any of its guts...no VC, magnet, etc...just the cone, suspension, and frame... I dunno. Kinda looks like they are using the square piece as a PR like a L5 or L7 square config sub. Looks like it has a surround. The "cone" in this case is the plastic square piece in the back. The only other reason to have that is if it was mesh or something in the back and as a vent. But thats not a vent it looks solid. EDIT: So I just looked at the site. Yes that is the 6" sub its square and its a PR.
