Guest
Never wanted an account on here because of how snotty every single person is sir, you come in here asking about doing something the hifonics manual specifically says not to, what kind of responses do you expect? also you couldve searched the forum for this topic because there are a ton of "should I run hifonics at .5ohm" threads, but you obviously didnt. you made this thread 3-4 times in wrong sections. Since you have this bad image of us, Ill tell you what I tell every hifonics owner who asks about .5ohm. The cheaper components used in the hifonics amplifiers are not made to run at .5ohm. While it will work, how long is the question. Over time the intense heat and current running through those cheaper components will cause them to eventually fail. Those components were machined with a tolerance that is so high the parts cannot support .5ohm this is why hifonics are cheaper than others. This failure will happen faster if your electrical is not up to par or if there is user error like playing clipped music. going from 2ohm to .5ohm will maybe get you 300 more watts but it will sound like taco bell breakfast farts. here are some of the hifonics at .5ohm threads you couldve google'd: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/182053-hifonics-brx16001d-05ohms/ http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/160333-5-ohm-stable/ http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/115198-hifonics-brz-24001d-5ohm/ http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/180126-hifonics-brz1200-05-ohms/ http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/119354-hifonics-5/ http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/65524-hifonics-bxi-2610d-at-5-ohms/ http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/87232-hifonics-bxi-2010d-5-ohm-load/ http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/184121-will-my-hifonics-brx2400s-strapped-at-5-ohm-each-survive-daily-use/ http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/189265-hifonics-05/
Guest
Well, all I can say is that I am glad I choose Mechman. lol Also, I have run a Hifonics brutus 4 channel before, and it was alright, it got pretty loud, but when I upgraded to a bottom-of-the-line Rockford Fosgate Prime 4 channel amp, it blew the sound quality and power of the hifonics out of the water. Not to mention it is probably a lot more efficient. Not saying Hifonics is horrible, but it is definitely a budget amp.
