dylan117 Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 So would a hifonics BRZ1200 be an any way capable of running .5 ohms? I know hifonics isnt the best but they do seem to keep themselves cool its on OK electrical at the moment so would the amp go up in smoke is all im asking whats your guys opinion?
thefourth Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Why isn't running at 1 ohm cool anymore Thanks alaskanzx5 I might just do thatI can recone a sub myself. About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream. oh lawd.
TS2GFrank Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 I would think so. IMO its always seemed like the smaller amps were easier to run at .5. I wired a old Planet Audio 1601 at .5 last summer and its still beating now.

CleanSierra Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 You need more power, buy a more powerful amp. Don't try to run something like that Hifonics to go before impedance safely. How much power do you need? What sub/subs your trying to run? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

hondakid1996 Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 I ran my brz1200 at half ohm for about six months before I upgraded. Did it work? Yes. But it got hot as hell and ate my voltage. I wouldn't recommend it after doing it personally.
Lbox88 Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 It's definitely not advised. These amps 'ok' at 1 but still suck, running under just puts you at risk of frying it and being out an amp entirely. Just sell it and buy a new amp. UBL | Build Log
gattiboy13 Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Steve meade did a amp test Tuesday on the Brutus elite at 0.7 I think or might be 0.5 and this is the elite series and no it went into protect right away he says.
hazestorm23 Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Don't do it save yourself the hassle of having to smell a burnt amp or worse your toasty subs after you do this . If you really have to wire that low than its probably time to upgrade
