Natasha O'Donnell Posted February 6, 2015 Author Report Posted February 6, 2015 how about that headunit ground? how did you set the gains on your amplifier? What's your voltage at the alternator? Negative to casing, positive to charging stud. Checking this will rule out all wiring/connection related issues Voltage is the same at battery, amp, and alt. Haven't tested it under full load yet though. And my HU has a secondary ground (in addition to the harness) . And I have an o scope meter i set gains with and test voltages.
SnowDrifter Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Test it under load and report back. Where are you measuring voltage from when you're seeing 12.1v? ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Natasha O'Donnell Posted February 7, 2015 Author Report Posted February 7, 2015 Test it under load and report back. Where are you measuring voltage from when you're seeing 12.1v? Been hard to get a load reading. Dont have anyone to assist today and haven't found a safe area to bass out stationary. So ill do that asap. And that reading is off a stinger volt meter at the power sources final destination, my bass amp. I just rechecked all grounds, no resistance in any of them. Also re did all connections on my fuses and made sure everything was right and tight. Should I also be experiencing lights dimming still with this alt and my current baby setup? ?
Guest Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 you need to check how many amps that alternator is putting out with the car on
