I recently burnt a voice coil in my tropo 15". im strongly thinking about getting the SoundQubed HDS310 X4. Just not sure on what amp to get. ive got plenty of room for it. (maybe 4th order if I have enough room?) but I need ideas on what amp to go with. I would prefer it to be under about $ 1k. Also where can I find an alternator for my truck that puts out more power?

Not enough info and i would look into why you blew the coil in the first place so you don't have it happen again.

Even with all the information we could possibly need, it still comes down to what your goals for the setup will be.

Most people go overboard and do not bother to try and gain the most from what they have to start with, and feel they need the biggest and baddest thing on 4 wheels, often times people do not let the speakers break in before jumping ship and fail to get the full potential out of them.

Sit down and make a plan on what you want and where you want to take it, and build from there.

how can I tell why it blew? it is a 450 rms sub on a 600 rms amp. what info do you need? im not real educated in car audio. any information you can give me to help you or anyone would be great. ive had this ct sounds tropo for about 3.5 months and gave it time to break in before I really started letting it rip. im not sure of how much more I can grow from my current setup.

Well, how did you set the gain on the amp? That's a good starting question? What kind of box was it in? Did you build that box? Was the box prefabricated and bought at as store/online/Craigslist? We're you running the amp with Bass Boost on? Do you know where your head unit distorts and starts to send a dirty signal?

What amp exactly are you using? How is your wiring situation? Is your ground nice and tight and attached to a GOOD spot sanded down to bare metal? Did the sub ever cut out on occasion before just blowing?

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

the guy at the car audio shop set the amp gains and everything. it is a box built by him. Not on bass boost that I know of. not sure where it sends a dirty signal but it was never turned past 27 of the 35 volume settings. JL XD 600/1. 2 gauge wire for power. everything is tight. its grounded to a spot that is sanded on the seat post. it just kinda rattled alittle. it still works but its nowhere near what it was. it only plays about half of what it did previously. it makes a rattle at higher volumes. low hz it sounds ok and at higher hz 50+ it doesn't even sound like its working. just kinda buzzes.
