Grounding

Recommended Posts

Calling for a short ground doesn't mean that that is the only thing important.

Priorities for grounding:

1) Solid location

2) Good connections/terminations

3) Adequate wire diameter and quantity

4) No longer of a run than necessary

1 - 3 are pretty much interchangeable really.

The idea is to make it safe and minimize power loss.

This isn't rocket science guys.

You say "ground to a cap or a bat". Well where are you going to ground those to?

Ground to a bank in the rear that is to frame, or go straight to frame (if there isn't a bank there)

Your over thinking.

Both grounds and power should stay as short at possible. If you have ago do a 5' run, don't make it 11'. That doesn't mean you can't have a 5' run. Damn guys.

That simple. That easy.

^^^^^ yup. exactly.

And connecting an amp to a battery in and of it's self isn't grounding anything. There still needs to be a ground connection like frame, strut tower, etc.

Wtf? Connecting an amp to the positive and negative terminals of a battery is an ideal situation. This completes the circuit for the amp. Running a wire to the frame without the battery - connected to it does nothing.
