Quick Help On A Box

Hey guys,

So I will be getting a single SQ HDS312 soon and trying to figure out box dimensions so I can make one for it,

It's going in a trunk car

Max Dimensions, LxHxD 40x14x21

Kinda trying to get around 2 cubes and maybe 35-38hz

The smaller the box the better so I can reuse the box in any vehicle.

Here is a suggestion, should fit many trunks, power: to sub rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, minimum port clearance 3 1/4", figure is just an assembly guide:

NOTE: If building outside you need to build a cardboard dummy box to test fit in it's way inside.

Quick question, How do I decide where I cut the hole for the sub? Is there specific measurement or whatever i think looks best?

Best is as far away from the inner end of the port as possible but not critical in this case, if you like it in the center of the baffle, you could do that.

Another question, if I sand the corners of the port, that won't change the like specifications will it?

Here's how to do the 45s:

Done like this the difference in net volume would be about 0,01 cubic feet, no discernible difference.

Ok thanks, what about rounding the edge of the port extension so its all smooth and no corners? Basically is it worth it for this situation or no?

Real quick, would 2-1/2 drywall screws be too long for this?

Edit: also I'm curious about if I should use different screws for the sub, and should screws ever pretrude through the other side so you can see the end inside the box or no?

I wouldn't recommend those long screws nor too many of them just enough to have the parts dry in place. You can use different screws for the subs any way you want as long as there are no leaks.
