sirhutson
This is a DD audio 1500 series 15 ( Dual 2 ) with soft suspension. I planned on putting this in the car along with my 8s with a band pass crossover, but the box was gonna be too big. So now i plan on making it a home woofer. With that being said I am just looking for suggestions on a plate amplifier and possibly tips on a home woofer enclosure boss 1200 and a ipod nano. Krakin
The enclosures will be bigger and port area is a much more important subject. My personal favorite design, though is dipole. They are extremely difficult to design though. For home audio I suggest, for the average person, both an infinite baffle and T-line over regular ported. For plate amps, check out parts-express. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. sirhutson
good call - http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-spa500-500w-subwoofer-plate-amplifier--300-807 . Im thinking T-Line. Fs of the soft suspension subs are in the 28 - 27 range. thats a looong note. boss 1200 and a ipod nano.

If you are going to spend that much on a plate amp you might as well get this: https://www.parts-express.com/behringer-nu1000dsp-inuke-1000-watt-power-amplifier-with-dsp--248-6702 Less money, 50% more RMS power, and built in DSP which is VERY useful. Plus this amp can be used for all kinds of stuff later and has better resell value. Plate amps are great, but they stop being cost effective once they get much over $150 or so. Then PA amps start looking really good. Triticum Agricolam
THANK YOU. I like the idea of this amp alot better. No prob, these amps are pretty awesome for the money. For another $80 you can get one that puts out ~2200 watts at 4 ohms bridged. Using a PA amp in a home audio situation take a little bit of effort, but its totally worth it IMHO. sirhutson
This is my first draw up of a T-line for this particular sub. If anyone sees anything wrong with it please let me know. boss 1200 and a ipod nano.
Triticum Agricolam
Have you modeled your sub in this enclosure so you have an idea of what kind of frequency response you are going to get?
