dont trim the wire, those connections are way to close, use some reducers. but you best bet is to do a dual distribution block with fuses, way easier to insert 4 gauge wire, also that way when you are ready to install your next amp it will be easier to connect.

One fuse within 12 inches of the front battery and another fuse within 12 inches of the amp.

The 250 amp fuse you have is likely too big as well.

K BRo thanks so much for the advice. I will do everything you suggested. I'm thinking I'll just trim the 0 gauge power/ground wire to fit into the amp. Do u think this all right or should I get the reducers

You can do it that way but you'll have a much Cleaner install with the reducers.

They aren't expensive either.

Because it doesn't draw enough current to require the use of 1/0.

Just buy some 1/0 to 4 Guage reducers and you can eliminate the need for the 4 Guage you still need a fuse on both ends of the wire though.

Ok well I do have the distribution and 4 awg wire kicking around so I can go this route. And what do u mean putting two fuses on each end. Each end of the power cord?

You use the main fuse under the hood to protect the actual battery cable from either getting a short or running too much current through it (the 250 amp fuse is probably what your wire is rated to handle over 20 ft). The fuse in the back is used to protect the amp in the case that there is a short somewhere in between the first fuse and the amp. if you look at alot of other manufacturers they include fuses built into the amp that function as the same purpose. As for the reason why the 0awg turns to 4 gauge it may be an issue of input size. I have a fosgate t1500 and if run at one ohm it draws far more than most 4awg lines can handle, although it only has a 4 awg input. The thing to consider though is any wire can handle much more amperage at a short length. So a short 2-3 foot length of 4 gauge may handle similar to what a 2-1 gauge line might handle line 15-20 to feet

Awesome. You guys are a fuckin gold mine. Thanks for all the advice so far. I'm gonna try and learn all I can from y'all as long as your willing to answer questions. I don't even have all.my parts yet. I've ordered everything. So as they show up I'll be putting shit together.

Here's a question for yall. Ive read the most conductive metals are as follows

- S/m*106

1. Silver - 62,89 - Best overall conductivity and durability

2. Copper - 59,77 - Better than gold, until it corrodes..

3. Gold - 42,55 -

4. Aluminum - 37,66

5. Brass /w 10% zinc - 35,86

9. Nickel - 14,6

I've purchased my fuses, distribution blocks, fuse holders etc.....with silver or gold finishes/w ( or OFC 100% COPPER) with this chart in mind. How big a part does this play in having a good clean quality system?

So another question. Since I do have 600 watt 4 channel alpine amp laying around all the premium wiring from being in my Jeep. How easy would it be to add that amp to my system and just hook my Bose factory speakers to it for time being ( until I can purchase some banging mb quartz components speakers, eliminating my bose amp completely.

I know how to wire the other amp to my.main power run and which fuses I'll need and what not. But since I am keeping factory head unit how would I go about tapping into wires for the speakers. Is it fairly simple? And how do get my stock boss head unit to send a signal to the amp to control my MIDs and highs? As well as send a signal to my mono amp and sub? Is it possible to run both off a factory head unit? With the PAC adapter I'm getting and the loc converter?

K so after some research. The PAC adapter adds two sets of RCA's. I'm assuming can be set to low or high level. I'd use the low level for subwoofer amp? and highs for the 4 channel? (with a rca splitter to somehow turn 2 outputs into a 4 outputs which then connects to my 4 channel amp allowing me to power 4 speakers?)

Am I getting close?
