Little Help On Amp Tuning

Real quick, please don't hate on not using a DD-1 or Oscilloscope. I don't have the equipment, time, or money for it.

So I'm looking for just like a check-over on the tuning of my amp.

Current system:

Alpine CDA-105

Soundqubed 750.1 *I know it's underpowered, waiting on new 1200.2*

Soundqubed HDS312-D2 *wired at 1 ohm*

Box is tuned at 35hz and 2.25 ft^3

So the way I have been doing it, turning the volume to 24 (that's my guess on clipping point of headunit) playing a bass note (I've been using 40hz) and just playing with the gain until the red clipping light turns on, on the Soundqubed bass knob (that is turned to the half way point)

Seems to work fine, I am just wondering if with my new box (just installed 4/20/2015) I can maybe use a different bass note, or if someone knows I can go high or lower on volume of headunit?

Also, is it better to play the bass note on an iPod connection or cd? (I've been using an Aux with a YouTube video from my phone because of lazyness lol)

Basically if someone could read this and give their opinion on what I am doing right, wrong, what I should change, I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm sure this isn't what you want to hear but you're doing it all wrong aside from using a test tone.

Do you at least have a dmm?

There are ways to tune with a dmm and while not accurate it it's surely better than what you are doing now.

I didn't have a multimeter when I first started installing, but it's definitely a must have. Link above is what I use. A $20 tool you can use to diagnose almost all wiring/amp related problems.

If nothing else just buy it, set your gain then return it lol

Well damn lol, I didn't know it was that bad lol.

Ok well I'll pick up a DMM from Home Depot tomorrow. Could someone either tell me or link me a guide on how to tune it with the DMM?

Just so you know this is not accurate and still basically guessing without the proper tool but will get you closer than what you were doing.

Set it a little lower than the voltage you calculate because it's better to err on the side of caution.

You could also check the and tools map and see if anyone near you has a dd1 you can borrow.

Check the map first because you really should use the right tool.

Alright, I found only 1 person close to me. Waiting for him to respond and see if we can meet up with his DD-1.

If not, I'll be back here with that Home Depot DMM and asking questions lol.
