By adding deadener you will more than likely change the resonant frequency of your vehicle. This can hurt of help you depending on the tuning of your enclosure. When you add deadener to the roof of your vehicle your frequency will most likely drop by a couple of hertz. I have had cases where adding deadener has really helped my score but it has also dropped it by 3db in other cases. Where you are adding it at makes a huge difference. I have never had luck when adding it to the roof of my vehicle for some reason, but if you do and it doesn't work out it is going to be a bitch to get off.
