Robert North Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 I am using 4 Rockford p212 (current) with a Rockford line driver & a T1000bd. I was told I only need about 60sq" of port area. And to tune for 35hz. It needs to be roughly 10" ish in length. After taking out woofer & Port displacement I have 8.6' airspace. Each sub sees 2.15'. Rockford recommends 2.0'. I think port will be too small but just checking. Any tips would be great.
Triticum Agricolam Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 On a 1,000 watts 60 sq in should be fine. I'd make it bigger though just in case you want to run more power in the future. There really is no disadvantage to using a bigger port other than it takes up more space. If you make it 90" sq in you should be good to at least 2,000 watts. Joe X Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Do 70 square inches of port area if you can afford to as the amp will do more than rated, the port will be a little longer.

The round port will be covered by material. So u won't see it. I have only 60"sq. The suggestion was between 70"sq-90"sq. Trying not to rebuild. I have panels and cloth for covering and molding in. Any suggestions would be great.

Triticum Agricolam Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Is this box already built? What kind of port do you have to get the 60 sq in your have now? A 4" port has 12.5 sq in of port area. I suppose you could add one or two of those to increase your port area. However, if you add port area all of your ports need to be longer to keep your tuning the same. Robert North Posted June 18, 2015 Author Report Posted June 18, 2015 Unfortunately yes. The port opening is 15" x4". Can I add a 4" port and adjust the length. Adding the 4" port will get me roughly 72"sq.instead of having 60"sq. And then I can adjust the port length

And then I can adjust the port length Like I said, if you add a port you will have to making your existing port longer to keep the tuning the same. Since this box is already built, I agree with JoeX and probably wouldn't mess with it unless you KNOW the port is a problem. If you built another box that would be the time to increase your port area.
