Inetba
Alright so I have a 1996 Accord 4 cylinder. XS 3400 battery. 330 amp Ohio generator alternator. Big 3 with 1/0 wire from sky high. Kicker CX1200.1 amplifier. I know about the ELD, all of this was done with the engine at 4k rpm in neutral. Headlights on. A/C on. I even tried hitting the door locks which SHOULD tell the ELD to put the alternator in high voltage mode. I made sure to turn the gain down all the way on the Amp before testing. With the volume on 16/35 I get no dimming. With the volume at 18/35 I get slight dimming. With the volume at 20/35 the amplifier goes into low voltage protect mode and my gauges dim so badly it almost seems like the car is about to die. After about two seconds the alternator will get off protect mode for about a quarter of a second before going back into low voltage protect. Considering I have a 330 amp alternator, I shouldn't be having any issues with a 1200 watt amplifier. Right?

Inetba
I set the gain to zero. I just bought the amp today and I hadn't turned the gain up yet. Low pass filter is at fifty.

SIDE SHOW
do you have another amp to test if it's just a faulty amp or not
Inetba
Would a faulty amp cause the lights to dim though? The only other amp I have is a 450 watt digital designs amp and it doesn't cause ANY dimming no matter how high I turn the volume.
SIDE SHOW
is the amp going into protect? and does the dimming happen with the car running
