immageek Posted July 17, 2015 Report Posted July 17, 2015 Hey guys, I'm looking to make a vented box for my JL 12w0v2 that I have. I know most here aren't a fan of JLs, but it's what I have at this time. I'm looking to build one that is tuned near their suggestion of 26hz. It's going into a 2009 malibu and I'd like to keep it close to these dimensions. Width - 24" Height - 14" Depth - ? That is the one that can vary a bit. They call for a 1.75 cu ft box. I'd want to go vented and not use a port. Any box pros out there willing to lend some design options? Thanks
Joe X Posted July 17, 2015 Report Posted July 17, 2015 So here is a suggestion, power: to sub(s) rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, minimum port clearance 1 5/8", figure is just an assembly guide: NOTE: If building outside you need to build a cardboard dummy box to test fit in it's way inside.

immageek Posted July 19, 2015 Author Report Posted July 19, 2015 You're welcome immageek. One quick question, Joe. I noticed that front and back have the same dimensions, but since there's a slot there for porting, should 2.375 be removed from the front one since it doesn't go all the way across?

Any reason why side 2 is 3/4" taller than side 1? Since the top and bottom boards are 24x16, they will cover the entire top and bottom. If side 2 is 3/4" taller, that would not line up, right? Just asking before I start making any cuts.

Does speaker placement mater much in these? As in should it be on the left side like the design shows or should it be closer to the right, away from the opening of the vent?
